The only answer of course is YES! I felt like something nutty, so I thought I would try the “Cinnamon walnut coffee cake” from Anne Shooter’s “Sesame & Spice” book. It doesn’t have coffee in it, but it’s called a coffee cake because confusingly some people call cakes that are to be eaten with coffee, coffee cakes, whatever they have in them.
It’s a lovely moist cake because of the sour cream, and went down very well. The only thing I would say is that it expanded more than expected and managed to escape from the tin slightly, so I would recommend using a larger tin, say 26cm wide.
Would I make it again?
Definitely! I might even try a version with coffee in it.
